Typically enameling is used for miniature size of object like ornaments. Enameling colors are actually glass powder which has its own behaviors how it reacts to heat.
Too long oven time and/or temperature can alter desired beautiful color to dark even to black. Therefore, it is essential that artist know how colors react to temperature.
When we present here large scale enameling, also the copper plate size absorb temperature and this and oven heating power must be taken in count when evaluating oven times and temperatures. Typical oven temperture is between 800-950 Celcius degrees and oven time is typically only few minutes.
Besides with enameling colors, artist may also use desired colored glass in order to get more three demensional effects.
After oven, the work must be ensured that the copper plate cools down to its desired form by holding desired form while cooling down the work.
Work starts from a copper plate on which colors are strewed on desired layers. Typical copper plates are 250mm x 300mm with plate thickness of 1 millimiters.
After a layer or a part of picture is ready for burning, cupper plate is set to enameling oven. Depending used enameling color, burning temperature and oven time can variate.
Desired color area can be limited with copper cord. Also it's possible to add layers of thinner copper plates than base plate to achieve more dimensional effects.
